I spent 30 minutes with @JTLonsdale talking about how to build the future with the new tools at hand. I’m more optimistic than ever. I share everything I’ve learned so far building WithCoverage, what’s happening at Opendoor and how things have changed since we started Addepar.

Palantir's Forward Deployed Billionaires have created over $44B+ in value founding companies like.. FDE → Founders: Chapter ($1.5B) - Cobi Blumenfeld-Gantz Kalshi ($2B) - Tarek Mansour Sourcegraph ($2.6B) - Quinn Slack Ironclad ($3.2B) - Cai Wangwilt Addepar ($3.25B) - Joe Lonsdale *does this count? ElevenLabs ($3.3B) - Mati Staniszewski Anduril ($30.5B) - Everyone? Shyam (@ssankar), you were the first FDE, what's the secret behind Palantir's culture that creates this success? What are the core principles that make a FDE? ..am I missing anyone?
In Gold We Trust
@IGWTreport
Same chart, one year on. Look at the gold slice. It didn't move. 2%, then 2%, through the most reshuffled year the UBS Global Family Office Report has ever tracked. Underneath, plenty changed. Private equity came down from 21% to 17%. Public equities and cash took the flows. Gold got none of them. A separate @CNBC and @Addepar tracker shows the same tilt from another desk: public markets the largest and fastest growing sleeve, real estate pared back, gold small enough to sit in an "other" bucket. The 3% doing the rounds is the 2026 plan for those making changes, not what anyone holds. Intent, not position. So a record year of rethinking, a dollar losing reserve share, central banks buying by the thousand tonnes, and the most sophisticated private capital on earth still sits at 2%. The gap is not closing on its own.

Lighter is about people. 1. Founder - Vlad Novakovski, a Math Olympiad winner, headed departments at Citadel, Quora, and Addepar, and developed a unique hiring system. 2. Lighter's engineers - of the 28 engineers, 23 are winners of international math/physics olympiads. Interesting fact: Vlad tried to hire Jeff (HL Founder), but he declined. 3. Unicorn & Decacorn Founders - many founders of high-profile companies are former Vlad employees. This is no coincidence, but a pattern - Vlad is an incredibly strong recruiter and create exclusively strong teams. 4. Investors - Lighter's investors include the largest Tier-1 funds from the Web2 and Web3 worlds. According to them, they invested 90% in Lighter because of the team. Furthermore, they provide access to Lighter's connections with the best companies in their portfolio. 5. Web2 founders - Vlad has close, friendly contacts with the founders of Robinhood, Palantir, Citadel, and PayPal Mafia. They have invested in the project and will also provide access to the largest financial market - the US - and will likely help promote Lighter in the White House. 6. Web3 founders - many founders of successful projects have invested in Lighter and believe in its success. This allows them to reach any Web3 project if the team needs it. -------------------- When evaluating a project, evaluate the team first, not the idea. -------------------- A team like Lighter has arguably not been seen since Ethereum and its brilliant minds (Vitalik, Lubin, Hoskinson, Wood, etc.).
