Last week, Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) sent a letter to @BiltRewards CEO @ankurjain_2 over the company's rocky transition to "Bilt 2.0." Warren's letter (citing my reporting nine times), flags a number of issues & user complaints, including: -Bilt appears to have lost, delayed the delivery of, or made it impossible for customers to access their funds; -Bilt is now partnering with Evolve Bank, which was at the center of a major scandal involving nearly $100 million in lost customer funds in 2024 (per Bilt's current terms and conditions, the company appears to use an FBO structure at Evolve as part of how it processes users' housing payments); - Bilt 2.0 immediately debits housing payments, raising questions about compliance with the Credit CARD Act of 2009; -Bilt’s use of an AI chatbot has made it inaccessible to consumers and appears to provide terrible customer support. Warren's letter asks Bilt to respond to a number of questions and provide a variety of data, including: -Number of Bilt users that had a housing payment debited but not delivered to a landlord/lender and not returned; -A description of what Bilt understands to have led to the transition issues and how Bilt responded to each specific issue; -From Nov 2025 to April 2026, the monthly number of customer service requests made, number of requests resolved by chatbot, number of requests elevated by chatbot to a human representative, average wait time to be escalated to a human, available data about users' satisfaction with the service they received -What steps Bilt intends to take to improve its customer service -Why Bilt is partnering with Evolve, "in light of the public reporting on the various issues associated with the bank in recent years, including issues that directly impacted Bilt" -An explanation for how Bilt's "2.0" structure of requiring immediate rent repayment is compatible with the CARD Act

Whoa: @BiltRewards just became the first credit card I know of to adopt Trump's proposed 10% interest rate cap. Bilt CEO Ankur Jain said that its three new cards will feature a 10% interest rate cap on all new purchases. No word on how long the cap will last.

$PYPL Also announced two more partnerships today: 1️⃣ Agentic commerce with $MA. This used Master Card's Agent Pay protocol. PayPal Agents are protocol agnostic. They're all over MCP, AP2 (see the $GOOGL presser below), and A2A protocols as well. 2️⃣ Bilt + Venmo. Starting in 2026, you can now pay your rent or mortgage using Venmo and receive Bilt rewards, and also use Venmo across their ecosystem. "The partnership extends Venmo's payment capabilities to Bilt's network of over 45,000 merchants. Local restaurants, retailers, gyms, pharmacies, and other businesses in the Bilt ecosystem will be able to accept Venmo" Earnings are tomorrow!

About Bilt Rewards

Bilt Rewards is a loyalty and payments network that lets renters and homeowners earn points on rent and mortgage payments—historically un-rewardable expenses—as well as on everyday spending, then redeem them for travel, fitness classes, or toward a future home down payment. Founded by Ankur Jain and launched publicly in 2021 out of his Kairos startup studio, Bilt runs a co-branded credit card program and a neighborhood-commerce network of merchants. In early 2026 it launched its 'Bilt Card 2.0' suite (Blue, Obsidian, Palladium) after ending its original Wells Fargo card partnership.
